In the framework of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the death of the illustrious composer Joaquín Rodrigo, author of the famous work Concert of Aranjuez, the most widely distributed piece of Spanish music in the world, the Alicia Alonso University Institute received today a visit from Cecilia Rodrigo Kamhi, Marchioness of the Gardens of Aranjuez and daughter of the composer.
The Marchioness had a pleasant conversation with teachers and students, in a meeting full of surprises. One of the most emotional was the revelation of a composition that her father created especially for her, who is a ballet teacher, in order to teach a class. In addition, she offered a choreographic tour of some of her father's pieces that have served as inspiration for creations by prestigious dance companies, including the National Ballet of Cuba, the Bolshoi, the Ballet of Atlántico and the National Ballet of Spain.
During the meeting, Cecilia Rodrigo recalled with emotion the Dance Gala presented by the dancers of the Alicia Alonso Foundation at the Real Coliseo Carlos III in Aranjuez on the occasion of International Dance Day, an initiative that, she stressed, was an invaluable tribute to the memory of her father, especially on the part of young dance talents.
The event ended in a moving way, when the young dancers, visibly moved, thanked the Marchioness for her generosity in sharing her experiences and for helping them better understand the great love story that united their parents. This invaluable contribution will be a source of inspiration for the play that the Institute is currently preparing, under the direction of Andrés Acevedo, and which will be released in the coming months.
