Degree in Visual Arts and Dance with honors (IUDAA-URJC)

Access testing regulations

The Degree in Visual Arts and Dance with Mentions is a degree shared with the Rey Juan Carlos University developed by the “Alicia Alonso” University Institute of Dance, which is responsible for 87% of the contents.

It is aimed at students of Intermediate Degree or equivalent training in private centers or Baccalaureate, with aptitudes for musical theater, physical theater of movement, audiovisual creation and other related disciplines.

It will require a high school diploma or equivalent and passing the Spanish baccalaureate evaluation test and the specific access test for each mention of the Degree.

Apart from the official qualifications required for access to the University, a specific Access Test is required.

Specific access tests. Classical Dance Mention

Requires previous training equivalent to Intermediate Degree

The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Classical Dance Class.
  • Variation chosen by the applicant of no more than 3 minutes, where their artistic ability will be valued. Music can be brought on USB, CD, or Mobile support.
  • Improvisation exercise marked by the court.
  • Personal interview.

Specific access tests. Contemporary Dance Mention

Does not require previous training equivalent to Intermediate Degree

The entrance test for the Contemporary Dance Mention: NO PRIOR TRAINING REQUIRED. The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Contemporary Dance Class.
  • Variation chosen by the applicant of no more than 3 minutes, where their artistic ability will be valued. Music can be brought on USB, CD, or Mobile support.
  • Improvisation exercise marked by the court.
  • Personal interview.

 

Specific access tests. Spanish Dance Mention.

Requires previous training equivalent to Intermediate Degree

The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Classical Dance Class
  • Spanish Dance Class (Stylized shoe dance class with castanets).
  • Variation chosen by the applicant of no more than 3 minutes, where their artistic ability will be valued. Music can be brought on USB, CD, or Mobile support.
  • Improvisation exercise marked by the court.
  • Personal interview

Specific access tests. Acrobatic and Circus Dance Mention

Does not require Previous training equivalent to Intermediate Degree.

The test will consist of the following exercises:

Presentation of a free creation prepared by the applicant, which includes circus techniques or other performing techniques (maximum 3 minutes).
Skills tests to address circus techniques: physical condition tests (strength and flexibility) and guided workshops on circus techniques.
Collective Exercise of Body Expression.
Improvisation exercise
Personal interview.

Specific access tests. Mention Dance Theater

Does not require previous training equivalent to Intermediate Degree

The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Collective Exercise of Body Expression. 
  • Choreographic piece of less than 1 minute.
  • Presentation of a memorized monologue, to choose between a classic one and a contemporary one*.
  • If the student wishes, during the test, he or she may perform a song, with or without accompaniment.
  • Personal interview (if determined by the court)

To facilitate the search for materials for the access test, different monologues are attached as proposals from the Court.
