The European Commission approved the project European Video Dance Heritage dated February 26, 2013 under the European program registered with No. 10, Project Number 536182. The objective of the same is to structure a European dance memory through the audiovisual record of the choreographic creations of different authors from Europe and the rest of the world. The work is based on the need to preserve and transmit the values linked to the cultural heritage of the people that is expressed through Dance. This task must contribute to the creation of a source of information that encourages and promotes the inspiration of young generations of artists and creators around the world.
Developed in the context of the so-called digital revolution, the European Video Dance Heritage project was carried out between the years 2013-2015.
Increase political and professional awareness of the importance of recordings of dance performances for archival and dissemination purposes.
Debate and pressure the necessary change in intellectual property policy, rights that affect dance recordings and dance videos.
Articulate the relationship, connection and collaboration between creators, with copyright and intellectual property regulatory institutions.
Contribute to improving the visibility and circulation of dance shows, recorded in record form, in audiovisual media.
Create a platform to transmit European dance heritage to a new generation of choreographers, dancers, and the general public.
In its edition in Spain, coordinated by the “Alicia Alonso” Dance Foundation and the “Alicia Alonso” University Institute of Dance, it featured a European-level seminar with the aim of raising awareness among professionals, holders of rights and policy makers on the need to preserve and transmit video dance through different European formats and media.
5 national workshops and seminars were developed for artists and filmmakers related to best practices related to the recording of live dance performances for their preservation, choosing appropriate technical formats, creating dance video and negotiating intellectual property rights and contracts in relation to recordings of dance performances.
«Numeridanse TV» became an online resource for the transmission of Europe's recorded dance heritage for future generations by collecting dance videos from each of the partner countries.
