In crops of nobody, acclaimed choreography by a group of students from our Dance Institute has been selected by the Association of Dance and Performing Arts of Madrid (ADAE) to compete in the Third Semi-Professional Dance and Performing Arts Competition International Dance Day Award 2013 will be held on April 26 at the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Alcobendas.
The art and technique of our students has recently been awarded in several national choreographic competitions. These Spanish dancers have already won the first prizes this year in the Miguel Marchán choreographic competitions and the COREOFEST Festival in Alcalá de Henares and Córdoba, respectively.
The piece In Nobody's Land was created and performed by Patricia Monzó, Victoria González, Ana Llopis, Yolanda Ponce, Raquel Cordero, Blanca Fernández, Inmaculada Freire, Raquel Avilés and Arancha Hoyos, students of the Spanish Dance itinerary of the Higher Dance Degrees and the Degrees in Visual Arts and Dance that are taught at our center.
Our girls won the 1st Prize for the best choreography in the V Miguel Marchán Choreographic Contest, held at the Paco de Lucía Cultural Center in Alcalá de Henares in February of this year, and also the 1st Prize in the 3rd Edition of the COREOFEST Festival held in March at the Mayor Felipe Pérez Auditorium in Posadas, Córdoba.
According to its choreographers and dancers, this stylized flamenco piece revolves around one idea: “…Nine. Only nine. Nine souls that finish and cadence the rhythm of Spanish dance. En Tierra de Noman was born with that concern and with the enthusiasm of capturing on stage everything learned during many years of work, effort and sacrifice. Without forgetting where they come from but always thinking about where they are going…” What stands out in the work is the use of fans and chopsticks and the feelings that range from the ceremoniousness of the seguiriya to the joyful bars of the alegrías.
Already in 2011, the Desengaño y Pasión choreography of these students had earned the 2nd Prize for Best Choreography in the III edition of the Miguel Marchán, as well as the Special Mention Prize from the Jury at the ADAE Awards held at the Alcobendas Theater. The creators and performers of this choreography were Macarena Pardo León, Irene Honrrubia Pardo, Yolanda Ponce Martínez, Patricia Monzó Ballesteros and Ana Llopis Piles. He also highlighted his participation in the Encounters with Dance and the Benicassim International Festival (FIB III), in July of that year.
