Andrés Acevedo

Teacher

Actor, stage movement director and movement teacher. Graduated in Dramatic Arts from the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático in Seville and graduated from the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris.

Biography

A graduate in textual interpretation from the ESAD in Seville, he took part in the XI International Laboratory of Actors TNT-Atalaya where he trained with teachers from different theatrical traditions from around the world: Kathakali, Comedia dell'Arte, Balinese theatre and Candomblé from Brazil. In 2008 he moved to Paris to continue his search for a theatre based on movement and after two years of study he graduated from the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School. Throughout his career he complemented his training with professionals such as Vicente Fuentes, Roberta Carreri, Hernan Gené, Ricardo Iniesta, Kameron Steele, Ellen Lauren, Iñaki Rikarte and José Piris.

In France he works at 38CIT, a large-format and site-specific company, in a version of The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov, with which they experiment with new possibilities in the relationship between the stage and the public. In parallel, she works with directors such as Maurice Barthelemy in film or Nicholas Bouchaud in theatre. In 2012 she participated in the Paris Autumn Festival with Two Less Lips, staged by Bouchaud, and at the Premier Pas festival at the Théâtre du Soleil with Ne chatais jamais avec des inconnus.

In recent years, back in Spain, he has been part of the company TeatroLAB Madrid, directed by Gabriel Olivares, where he adds to his work as an interpreter the consultancy of stage movement and the training of actors. This facet extends to other companies and producers, adding up to twenty stage movement directions at present (Our Town, Gross Indecency, Las Hermanas de Manolete, Tragedia Española, Jubileo, Martirio, La Cuenta and We Will Rock You, among others).

As an actor, his most recent works include “IF (la ligereza)”, “La Noche del Sr. Smith” and “Afterglow”, directed by Pedro Casas, “Gross Indecency”, “Our Town” and “Burundanga”, directed by Gabriel Olivares.

It was at this last stage that he came into contact with the Viewpoints technique and the Suzuki Method of Actor Training. His deep interest in the latter led him to train in the SCOT (Suzuki Company of Toga) summer program in Japan from 2018 to the present and with Kameron Steele, training that he currently shares in workshops with professional actors and students.

He regularly teaches acting training workshops at TeatroLAB Madrid. He is a professor of the Degree in Visual Arts and Dance at the URJC/ Instituto Alicia Alonso where he teaches the subjects of Training and Staging of Physical Theatre and Pantomime. He has collaborated as a pedagogue in movement subjects at the school

Nouveau Colombier, Aisge, Psicoballet, Centro MB2 (Chile) and University of Antofagasta (Chile), Spanish Cultural Center of Guatemala, as well as in the Master of Direction at Nave 73.

He has directed “The Altarpiece of Greed, Lust and Death” by Valle-Inclán, “Perlimplín” based on the work of Lorca, and “MedeaMaterial” by Müller among other productions. In these works he investigates the dialogue between dramatic texts
