The project Legends about circular ruins, approved by the European Commission within the Creative Europe program and within the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, its outstanding objective is to strengthen the sense of belonging to a common space, highlighting the historical-cultural roots shared by different peoples. of Europe through cultural heritage.

To carry out the project activities, a European consortium made up of cultural organizations from five countries, Italy (Eufonia-Astrágali Teatro. University of Salento), Romania (Constanta State Theater), Spain (Alicia Alonso University Dance Institute-University King Juan Carlos), France (International Theater Institute, ITI / Unesco) and Albania (National Coastal Agency. Butrint National Archaeological Park), come together to develop a sense of shared responsibility and belonging over European material and intangible cultural heritage .

One of the highlighted activities of the project is the International Artistic Residencies program that has been carried out between July and October in the participating countries. The Residency in Spain will take place in Segovia, from November 5 to 10, 2018, through the development of a series of cultural activities, and in Madrid, where the International Day on Cultural Heritage was held with the participation of representatives of the Group of Heritage Cities of Humanity of Spain.

This Conference on Cultural Heritage, which was hosted by the Reina Sofia Art Center Museum, aimed to develop the notion of circular ruins of culture, highlighting the importance of intangible cultural heritage that covers areas such as literature and history in connection with the performing arts and in the context of his surrounding tours of Europe.

The Theater Department of the Alicia Alonso University Institute of Dance-Universidad Rey Juan Carlos established a series of activities and workshops that will be held at the IAR in Nivica, ALBANIA, with the aim of meeting the objectives of the project, namely, sharing with the community and other participating partners the values of the common European heritage through the performing arts. These activities are described below:

  1. “The body: a universal language”: this proposal aims to delve into the language of the body as an engine that connects and unites artistic expressions and the shared cultural heritage of communities. The body allows us to laugh, feel or tell a story without the use of words or, at least, without the need for its understanding to be essential. Therefore, we will use their language (through workshops, performances, improvisations and creative searches) to share stories, of the characters and of each of us. For these purposes, we will join the privileged environment of Nivica, its landscapes and its ancestral cultural, tangible and intangible heritage, connecting creative theatrical searches with its lifelong traditions.
