Degree in Visual Arts and Dance with mentions (IUDAA-URJC)

Entrance Examination Regulations

The Degree in Visual Arts and Dance with Mentions is a degree program shared with the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and developed by the Instituto Universitario de la Danza "Alicia Alonso", which is in charge of 87% of the contents.

It is aimed at students of middle grade or equivalent training in private schools or high school, with an aptitude for musical theater, physical theater of movement, audiovisual creation and other related disciplines.

It will require the baccalaureate degree or equivalent and the passing of the Spanish baccalaureate evaluation test and the specific access test for each degree specialization.

In addition to the official degrees required for admission to the University, a specific entrance exam is required.

Mention Classical Dance

Requires previous training equivalent to a middle grade (not necessarily a formal degree).

Mention Spanish Dance

Requires previous training equivalent to a middle grade (not necessarily a formal degree).

Mention Contemporary Dance

No previous training required

Mention Dance Theater

No previous training required

Acrobatic and Circus Dance Mention

No previous training required

Specific entrance exams. Mention Classical Dance

Requires previous training equivalent to intermediate level

The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Classical Dance Class.
  • Variation chosen by the applicant of no more than 3 minutes, where his artistic ability will be valued. The music can be brought in USB support, CD, Mobile.
  • Improvisation exercise marked by the court.
  • Personal interview.

Specific entrance exams. Mention Contemporary Dance

Does not require previous training equivalent to intermediate level

The entrance exam for the Contemporary Dance Mention: NO PREVIOUS TRAINING IS REQUIRED. The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Contemporary Dance Class.
  • Variation chosen by the applicant of no more than 3 minutes, where his artistic ability will be valued. The music can be brought in USB support, CD, Mobile.
  • Improvisation exercise marked by the court.
  • Personal interview.

 

Specific entrance exams. Mention Spanish Dance.

Requires previous training equivalent to intermediate level

The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Classical Dance Class
  • Spanish Dance Class (Stylized shoe dance class with castanets).
  • Variation chosen by the applicant of no more than 3 minutes, where his artistic ability will be valued. The music can be brought in USB support, CD, Mobile.
  • Improvisation exercise marked by the court.
  • Personal interview

Specific entrance exams. Mention in Acrobatic and Circus Dance.

It does not require previous training equivalent to a middle-level degree.

The test will consist of the following exercises:

Presentation of a free creation prepared by the applicant, including circus techniques or other scenic technique (maximum 3 minutes).
Skills tests to approach circus techniques: physical condition tests (strength and flexibility) and workshops on circus techniques.
Collective exercise of Corporal Expression.
Improvisation exercise
Personal interview.

Specific entrance exams. Mention Dance Theater

Does not require previous training equivalent to intermediate level

The test will consist of the following exercises:

  • Collective Exercise of Corporal Expression. 
  • Choreographic piece of less than 1 minute.
  • Presentation of a memorized monologue, with a choice between a classic and a contemporary monologue*.
  • If the student wishes, during the test, he/she may perform a song, with or without accompaniment.
  • Personal interview (if determined by the court)

In order to facilitate the search for materials for the entrance exam, different monologues are attached as proposals from the Tribunal.
